It's Not a Sex Thing...

Image
Being irresponsible handling a firearm is an equal opportunity endeavor. Women can have their head up their six just as much as any man. In December of 2022 in Jackson MI, an 18yo woman was in a vehicle with her passenger. While stopped at an intersection, the woman retrieved a handgun from her purse with the intent to hand it to her passenger. Before I go on, it needs to be pointed out that there is much to this story that remains unanswered. The main thing being, why was the woman retrieving her concealed firearm in order to give it to her passenger? Why did the passenger need the weapon? I could go on, but I won't. Focusing back on the firearm, I'll again take the opportunity to point out a couple things. First, the off-body carrying (OBC) of a firearm is a bad idea. Placing the weapon in your purse as your means of OBC is even worse. A purse is a target for thieves. Easy to grab from an unsuspecting victim and take off with it. You don't want to carry a deadly weapon ...

Worth An Inspection

Image
It is not only your firearm you need to inspect carefully these days. When we go through the process of renting a car, for most of us, the main concern is whether the vehicle will get us through our trip without breaking down. A few of us will get an unexpected surprise. On April 29 th 2022, an Enterprise Rent-A-Car customer got such a surprise when he found a handgun in the glove box of his rented car. The vehicle was previously turned in to the Wickliffe car rental location. We assume it was cleaned and inspected before being transferred to a different location in the city of Richmond Heights where it was eventually issued to the new customer. No employee at either location realized the firearm was in the glove box. It took the customer to find the weapon. So much for “cleaning and inspection” before getting issued your rental car. Thoughts dance in my head about what could have happened had a less than ethical employee found the weapon. Or, if the new customer was not as honest a...

You Can't Fix Stupid But Must We Give It a Gun?

Image
You may think I'm being over dramatic with my claim that most Americans can't handle real gun control. And by “gun control” I'm talking about the gun owner being responsible for every aspect of their firearm. Specifically, it's safe handling, keeping it secure from theft or unauthorized use, and always knowing where their weapon is located and what it's loaded status is, just to name a few. I know we can't fix stupid. But when a so-called lawfully armed citizen shows their stupidity and their irresponsible actions place others safety at risk, the question begs, should we as a society allow them to immediately re-arm themselves without any requirement to correct their poor behaviors? A Seven Hill, Ohio man on December 3 rd 2022, realized at some point during the day that his Taurus .38 handgun was missing. He had no idea where it was or what happened to it. He reported it missing to the local police and stated he last saw the weapon earlier in the day. While...

When SHTF, Home Invasion, Robbery, Aggrivated Assault, Kidnapping, Carjacking, Weapons and Drug Charges...

Image
This post is a bit unique. It discusses a home invasion and robbery that occurred in the town of Akron, Ohio back on December 8 th , 2022 around 1400hrs. I found it unique in the fact that it was reported that the subjects motive for the home invasion and robbery was to find drugs. While this motive has not yet been established in court, it may cause some readers to say, “Wait, if the victims in this case had drugs in their home which was the target for the criminals, why am I spending time talking about it? It's bad guys crapping on bad guys.” From a personal safety standpoint, this home invasion and robbery is just as relevant as any other. The fact the alleged targeted item was drugs instead of other items of value like jewelry, electronics, vehicle, etc. in no way lessens the opportunities to learn from it. Plus, the mechanics of how this crime went down is also important when we look at it from the criminals method of operation. This was a well established neighborhood wit...
